Sveta Marina Hospital was designed to create a state-of-the-art environment for advanced technologies in surgery. Our aim was to apply an analytical and innovative approach to this project as part of a new generation healthcare facilities in Bulgaria.
The Operating theatres are specifically designed to reflect the evolution of surgery and to incorporate minimally invasive methods, computer assistance, robotic augmentation, image guidance and telecommunications.
Movement of patients and personnel within the hospital and segregation flows is a whole new approach to the design and the management of the facility.
The hospital philosophy is to bring the visitors and staff into and out of each department as simply and as short a route as possible while segregating activities that are inappropriate to mix. A by-product of this segregation is improved safety and security that will occur with the restricted access arrangements. Our work was inspired by an exceptional team of highly qualified consultants.
The project was presented at the prestigious international forum XIII World Triennial of Architecture “INTERARCH`2012” and awarded with a Diploma of the International Academy of Architecture.
